Village Clerk
The Village Clerk serves as the link between village residents and the village president, board, treasurer and all other village employees.
The Village of Windsor Clerk provides clerical, record keeping and administrative functions to the board, president and other village employees. In addition, this individual performs many tasks that assist in guiding and managing the operation of local government policy and law.
The village clerk shall maintain control of the official corporate seal for the Village of Windsor and is responsible for the safekeeping of all village ordinances as well as other official documents and records pertaining to village business.
The Village Clerk is elected by village residents every 4 years during the State of Illinois General Municipal elections. Any vacanciues in the position of Village Clerk shall be filled by appointment by the Village President and subsequently approved by the board to fulfill the remainder of the current term.
Below are just a few of the responsibilities of the Village of Windsor Clerk.
- Maintain office hours at the village hall
- File all necessary legal documents as required by county, state and federal laws
- Maintain and safeguard the checkbooks for all Village of Windsor accounts
- Receive all bills and monthly provide a list of bills to be paid to the board
- Write checks to pay bills after they have been approved for payment
- Maintain payroll records and write salary checks for all village employees and officers
- Collects, organizes, and maintains records
- Records and submits Board meeting minutes
- Collect payments, other than those for utilities, and turn those collections over to the treasurer for deposit
- Other duties as prescribed by law or requested by village officials
The Village Clerk also serves as the Village of Windsor Freedom of Information Officer.
